How to Remove All Permissions From a Teammate Within Your Organization

Offboarding a therapist from your organization

When a therapist leaves an organization, you can remove their permissions so they no longer have access to your organization.

Important: downgrade first

Instead of immediately removing a teammate from your organization, downgrade their access by assigning them the Basic plan and removing any add-ons first. This is important because if you remove the user before reducing seats, you may not be able to reduce the number of seats in Stripe—Ambiki may still see the seat as assigned.

Also note: deleting/removing a teammate too early can impact record links. Removing an account from your organization can sever the links to every record that teammate ever touched, leaving items locked or incomplete. (You can still choose Remove account from Organization later if absolutely necessary—ideally after final payroll is complete.)

Step A: Remove the user from the subscription (required before reducing seats)

  1. Go to Subscription.

  2. Select Manage user plans & add-ons.

  3. Select the teammate.

  4. Click Manage subscription.

  5. Change the teammate’s plan to Basic.

  6. Uncheck any add-ons (if applicable).

  7. Click Update subscriptions.

Result: This frees the paid seat so the org admin can reduce the seat count.

Step B: Reduce the number of seats

After the user is set to Basic, reduce the number of seats in your subscription as needed.

Step C: Remove access inside the organization (permissions)

To remove all permissions from a teammate within your organization follow these 3 steps:

Step 1:
Organization Menu > Click on Teammates

Note: You can also remove the teammate's account from your organization by selecting Remove account from Organization at the bottom right. However, this is not recommended.
